A monumental and extremely rare Italian mid 19th century Louis XV st. patinated and giltwood mirror with its own incorporated clock. Raised on giltwood feet with large opulent giltwood acanthus leaf scrolled at each side. Centered on the patinated background is the clock with white enamel face, amidst foliate scrolls and seashell, above a stepped base and pierced lattice design. Giltwood berried laurel garlands continue onto mirror plate. The patinated frame has giltwood moulded border and is decorated with scrolled designs and foliate blossoms. Centered at the top is a female mask and seashell with a draped tassel design amidst scrolled giltwood foliate, and foliate garland that continues onto the mirror plate. At the very impressive top crown is a large acanthus leaf design with scrolled and foliate garlands that extend down the stepped side capitols. All original gilt and mirror plate. The silhouette is 6 feet tall.
